The Giving Tree – Celebrating 16 years at CHS! The Homeless Prevention Council and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children are a couple of the organizations that we support through this annual event. Please take an ornament and return to the tree with the ornament firmly attached to the gift, on or before Sunday, December 16. The gifts are distributed to the agencies and then have to be delivered to the families — the the timing is imperative. Thank you all so much for your continued generosity.
Adult Christian Education – Sundays from 9:00 am to 9:45 am. Please join us as we continue our reflective group study of John’s Gospel.
Book Discussion Group – We continue with Nativities & Passions: Words For Transformation written by Martin Lee Smith, SSJE. The discussion group is open to anyone at any time. It meets after the 10:00 am service and wraps up around noon. Please come and give it a try.
Morning Prayer Returns to CHS – Beginning December 6, Morning Prayer will be offered every Thursday morning at 8:30 am in the side chapel.
Women’s Luncheon – Father Charles Morris will play Christmas Carols at our luncheon on December 6 at noon. What a treat for us all! The luncheon is for all women in the parish. Bring a sandwich to share and canned goods for the Food Pantry. Volunteers: Ruth Campbell, Ginny Lucil, Sue Stevens, and Bobbi Nickerson.
Thursdays at Three: Waiting with Mary – Join us for an exploration of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of our Lord. This special offering will include music, poetry and other writings, as well as images of Mary from around the world. This very sacred time will be held in the North Transept of the church. Thursdays at 3:00 pm, December 6, 13, 20.
Church School: Saturday, December 8 – Christmas Pageant Rehearsal: 5:00 pm – Main Characters; 5:30 pm – Entire Case; 6:15 pm – Pizza party followed by gingerbread house making. Sunday, December 16 – Christmas pageant costumes assigned. Monday, December 24 – Christmas Pageant. Please sign up NOW for Gingerbread House making as we need a count to order the houses. Sign up poster is in the Gathering Room. All are welcome!
Christmas Flower Envelopes are in the pews. Please print clearly the names of those you wish to have remembered, and also your pledge number. Enclose your donation, made payable to The Church of the Holy Spirit Fund. Place in the offering plate or drop off at the office. Deadline Sunday, December 9.
Advent Quiet Day – December 15 at Christ Church in Harwich Port. Come for a day of quiet reflection in anticipation our Lord’s birth. Offered by our Pastoral Associate, Sarah Kelb, we will start at 9″30 am with closing prayers and dismissal at 3:00 pm. Carpooling will be available and please bring a bag lunch.
A huge and grateful thank you – to all the knitters, sewers, stuffers, crocheters,crafters, and hammerers for your year-long efforts. Also the bakers, workers, and supporters of our Chirstmas Bazaar. Your great spirit, enthusiasm, and dedication are the keys to the Bazaar’s success.
Holiday Antiques Show and Sale – I want to sincerely thank the parish for the wonderful support you have given to make the 35th annual holiday antiques show and sale such a success. Thank you also to all who were patrons of the show, and in addition to all who volunteered so willingly of their time, skills, and efforts. The spirit that flows through each of you is such a blessing within our parish. I am most grateful and thankful to each of you who have given so willingly to help with this endeavor. CHS Artist – The features CHS artists for the month of December is Kate Paradise. Kate has been a photographer for over 40 years. Specializing in landscapes, seascapes, flora, and fauna, her images combine light, color, and composition that result in creative and captivating visions of our natural world. Enjoy the show in the CHS Gallery/ Reception Room.
Free Shop – We are now accepting clean winter clothing. If the Free Shop is closed, donations can be left in the container outside the Free Shop door. We are open Mondays, from 12 noon to 3:00 pm and Wednesdays from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
Galley West – Beginning December 4 through December 23 the Galley West gift shop will be open weekdays from the 10:00 am through 2:00 pm Monday through Friday. On Sundays, it will be open from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon. Please come in Advent Calendars and that unusual hand-crafted gift for someone special.
