Sunday, September 1: Adult Education, at 9 a.m. in the Parish Hall. A Mystic Sampler Led by Deacon Sarah Kelb: Join us as we explore the writings within Christian Mysticism. “Studying the great Christian mystics inspired me to pursue an extra certificate in Spirituality and has lead to the deepening of my own spirituality and prayer life. I am thrilled to share this time with the mystics with you. Come and bring a friend!” Blessings, Sarah.

Sunday, September 1: Summer Church School (Veggie Tales) ends this Sunday, September 1. Church School begins September 15. Please look for your Registration packets in the mail. We look forward to seeing you and beginning the 2013-2014 Church School year!

Sunday, September 1: Choir News: Today is the last Sunday for our Summer Choir. We thank all who have joined us this season. New members for all music groups are invited to join us, no auditions required! Adult Choir rehearses on Wednesdays at 7 p.m. starting September 4 in the North Transept of the Church. Bell Choir rehearses in the parish hall on Mondays at 1:30 p.m. beginning September 9. Youth Choir (Grades 3-12) rehearses on Wednesdays at 5:55 p.m. starting September 9 in the North Transept of the Church. The first rehearsal will be announced soon by Father Morris. Questions? Thursday, September 5: Luncheon for Women of the Parish, 12 Noon Parish Hall. Come join us for the first luncheon of the fall. Bring a sandwich to share – dessert and beverages will be provided. Volunteers for the day are: Dot Cross, Ginny Lucil, Barbara Mahoney, Peg Skelly and Janet Winter. Call Peter Blank, transportation coordinator, 508-760-1516 if you need a ride.

Friday, September 6: CHS Garden Party, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. – There will be the usual weeding, dead heading but this month we’ll have the added excitement of planting mums for fall color. Plenty of activities for all ages and skill levels. Bring tools for weeding, trimming and/or planting. More Info? Call Gilbert Merritt at 508 360 1125.

Sunday, September 8: Adult Education, at 9 a.m. in the Parish Hall. In September we will pick up our work again with Dallas Willard’s Renovation of the Heart: Putting on the Character of Christ. This is a very practical series on making progress in our spiritual formation, involving viewing a short video presentation, followed by reflection and discussion. While those who wish to do so may read the indicated chapters in Willard’s book of the same title, this is in no way necessary or required for full participation in these sessions. All are welcome to this special series! September 8: “Transforming the Mind, 1: Spiritual Formation and the Thought Life.”

REMINDER: Morning Prayer continues to meet every Thursday at 8:30 a.m. in the side chapel.

FALL RUMMAGE SALE: Friday, October 18 and Saturday, October 19. Fall cleaning? Now is the time to set aside your much needed donations for this popular sale. Donations will be ac- cepted earlier that week and more information will come as we approach the date. Please put this date on your calendar and plan to help with setting up, selling or clean up. CHS Artist: The featured artist for the month of September is The Rev. Canon Charles Morris. At the conclusion of Father Charles’s “time” of being Assisting Rector, the Church School chil- dren presented him with a book titled The Blessing of the Animals. This book was conceived and the prayers written by Father Charles. All original illustrations, by the children, are dis- played on the Gallery display boards. Please come and enjoy the show!

Education for Ministry (EfM): An Evening Course of Study and Reflection! The EfM Group at CHS meets on Tuesday afternoons. A new EfM Group is starting up in the evenings at Christ Church in Harwich Port at 5 p.m. with Sara Fry and The Rev. Judith A. Davis as Co-Mentors. Fair Trade Update: DEATH BY CHOCOLATE & LOVE BUZZ! There have been requests for a stronger roast of Fair Trade Coffee. So we now have, “death by chocolate” French roast and Latin American “organic love buzz.” Thanks to all our patrons for the increased use of our Fair Trade products. Questions? See Fr. Ken.

Free Shop: The Free Shop is now gladly accepting FALL CLOTHING. Please no more summer clothing or shoes. MANY THANKS for your support of this vital & important CHS ministry.
