In Gathering Weekend – This weekend 2014 pledges received so far will be blessed at our services. We have received 123 pledges. THANK YOU. Of these, 50% have included an increase over their 2013 pledged amount and we also have 4 new pledges. If you have not returned your 2014 pledge, please do so ASAP. If you need a pledge packet, please contact the parish office. All pledges received after this weekend will be separately blessed. Offertory envelopes for 2014 will be available later in December.
Sunday, November 24: Adult Education, at 9 a.m. – Parish Hall. In December we will return to and conclude our series on Dallas Willard’s Renovation of the Heart. It is not necessary to have attended the previous sessions to participate in these. We watch a short video presenta- tion by Willard and then open things up to reflection and discussion. NOTE: We will not be holding the Sunday 9 a.m. Adult Education on either December 29 or January 5.
Sunday, November 24: Book Discussion Group – after the 10 a.m. service in the Fireplace Room. Continuing discussion on Lauren Winner’s book Still: Notes on a Mid-Faith Crisis.
Thursday, November 28: Our Thanksgiving Service with Eucharist will be held at 10:00 a.m. Due to this service, there will be no Morning Prayer or Centering Prayer.
Thursday, November 28: Thanksgiving Dinner is being served at: The Elks in Eastham from 12 Noon to 4 p.m., 508-240-5826; The United Methodist Church in Wellfleet from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., 508-349-7217; and the West Dennis Community Church on Route 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., 508-398-6420.
Friday, November 29: The 36th Annual Holiday Antiques Show and Sale – Friday, November 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, November 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Admission is $5. per person ($4. with a discount ad or ticket). The Annual Antiques Show & Sale is in DIRE need of volunteers. We need porters for Friday morning, November 29 and kitchen help all day for Saturday, November 30. Sign up sheets are in the Reception Room. Thank you for your support.
Sunday, December 1: We celebrate the beginning of Advent with the Giving Tree play at the 10 a.m. service, and ADVENT WREATH MAKING for the WHOLE PARISH in the Parish Hall after the 10 a.m. service. Please bring “greens” if you can – extra sets of Advent candles will be offered for sale.
Thursday, December 5: Thursdays at Three – For the first three weeks of December, an Advent series will be offered. This series: Art, Spirit, and Incarnation will include Elizabeth Pratt presenting on the Spirituality of Art through time. This program will be displayed in the same sacred space as last year’s Waiting with Mary series, with the large fabric screen at 3 p.m. in the north transept of the church.
The Reverend Sarah D. Kelb’s Ordination to the Priesthood – You are Invited! On Saturday, January 4, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Boston. Please sign up (ASAP) in the Reception Room to travel by bus together with other parishioners. There will be a suggested donation. More information to come!
ATTENTION YOUTH! Your help is needed! The church is looking for volunteers to serve as acolytes for the 10 a.m. service. If you are in grades 3-12 and would like to serve, please let Deacon Sarah know ASAP to get on the schedule. Training will take place as needed directly after the 10 a.m. service.
Thursday, December 5: Christmas Luncheon for Women of the Parish – 12 Noon, Parish Hall. Please bring a sandwich to share as usual. Also please bring Christmas cards you have received from charities to donate to Lower Cape Outreach Council, as well as canned goods for their Food Pantry. Dilys Smith will lead us in singing Christmas carols. All women of the parish are invited – so bring a friend! Volunteers for the day are Fay Cole, Peg Skelly, Hope Fox, and Sue Stevens.
