4th AdventChristmas Worship Services: Christmas Eve: Tuesday, December 24 – 4:30 p.m. Children’s Pageant and Eucharist and 10:00 p.m. Festival Christmas Eucharist. Christmas Day: Wednesday, December 25 – 10:00 a.m. Eucharist.

Sunday, December 22: Adult Education, at 9 a.m. – Parish Hall. We continue with our series on Dallas Willard’s Renovation of the Heart. It is not necessary to have attended the previous sessions to participate in these. We watch a short video presentation by Willard and then open things up to reflection and discussion. NOTE: We will not be holding the Sunday 9 a.m. Adult Education on either December 29 or January 5.

Sunday, December 22: Book Discussion Group – after the 10 a.m. service in the Fireplace Room. Continuing discussion on Lauren Winner’s book Still: Notes on a Mid-Faith Crisis.

Sunday, December 29: Eucharist and Epiphany Trope. Please note: This is a week earlier than usual!

Sunday, December 29: Four-handed Piano Concert: Classicopia (Phil Liston-Kraft and Dan Weiser) will perform a concert of four-handed piano duets on at 4 p.m. Admission $20. They performed here in September to great acclaim! Don’t miss it! And bring a friend.

Thursday, January 2: Ministry and committee heads: Annual Report material (in Times New Roman font, 12 point, if possible) is due, to holyspiritorleansadmin@verizon.net. Thank you!

Thursday, January 2: Women’s Luncheon at 12 Noon in the Parish Hall. Our popular luncheons for all the women of the parish will continue through the winter on the first Thursday of each month with a simplified format. Each of us will bring a sandwich to share and one volunteer will manage the set up and another will bring the very necessary chips. Come and join us and bring a friend. Please call Peter Blank if you need a ride (508-760-1516).

A WALK IN JERUSALEM: On the five Fridays of January, Fr. Ken will lead a book study of Mark Braverman’s new book, A Walk In Jerusalem, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. in the Library. Bring a sandwich or salad, coffee and tea provided! It is necessary to pre-register with Fr. Ken. We hope to have a few folks participating who have recently returned from the diocesan pilgrimage to Jerusalem. Please pre-register with Fr. Ken as soon as possible!

The Reverend Sarah D. Kelb’s Ordination to the Priesthood – You are Invited! On Saturday, January 4, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Boston. Please sign up this weekend in the Reception Room for a seat on the bus. There will be a suggested donation.

Sunday, January 5: Sarah’s First Celebration of the Eucharist at 10 a.m. Please join us as the newly ordained Reverend Sarah D. Kelb celebrates her First Eucharist at the 10 a.m. service. Please also join us afterwards for a special celebratory pot luck lunch in the Parish Hall. Please sign up in the Reception Room or the Parish Hall.

Thursday, January 23: “Good People” 3 p.m. Parish Hall. Another opportunity to hear the play “Good People” read by parishioners under the direction of Jill Holmes. This was performed in September to great accolades. Please come and bring a friend.

Sunday, January 26: Annual Meeting 11:30 a.m. Parish Hall. The Annual Meeting of the Parish will be held to elect new Officers and Vestry Members and receive the Annual Report, all in accordance with the Warrant.

CHS Artist: The featured artist for the month of December is Cynthia Murray. Come see Cynthia’s wonderful collection of nativity sets. From gifts to purchases made during travels, Cynthia will be sharing these beautiful nativities in the Galley/Reception Room throughout the month of December. Questions? Stewardship: 2014 Pledges – Through Monday December 2, we have received 166 pledges for $334,713. including 86 with increases over 2013 and 8 new pledges. THANK YOU! If you have not sent in your 2014 pledge, please do so as soon as possible. The Finance Committee and Vestry continue to work on our 2014 budget and our pledge income is a critical element of that process. If you need a pledge card please contact the parish office. 2014 Offertory Envelopes for pledges to be paid on a weekly or monthly basis are in the Reception Room. Please pick them up. If we gave you the wrong frequency (i.e. you wanted weekly and but got monthly) let us know so we can get you another box set. If there are no envelopes for your pledge, please contact the parish office and we will get a box assigned.

Prayer Shawl Ministry: Prayer shawls are an important, but quiet way of expressing concern, of helping others through difficult or happy occasions. We have such a cadre of helpers here in Church of The Holy Spirit. But more help is always needed and welcome.
