Announcements for March 7-13

winter birdSunday, March 9: Adult Education at 9 a.m. – Parish Hall. Continuing through April 6 – John One. Fr. Adam continues a meditative reflection on the Gospel of John.

Sunday, March 9: Coffee for Church School Parents at 9 a.m., in Joan McFadden’s classroom. The Pathfinders Team is providing coffee and breakfast treats for parents and kids.

Monday, March 10: April Together deadline.

Tuesday, March 11: The Justice and Peace Committee of CHS is one of the sponsors for a showing of a movie about a rescue of German Jews from the Holocaust to the Philippines executed by the then Col. Dwight Eisenhower, Paul McNutt and the President of the Philippines. Cape Cinema at 7 p.m., $10 per ticket to aid victims of the recent typhoon and earthquake.

Thursday, March 13: Thursdays at Three in the Parish Hall. Good People: Are you a good person? Do you think you are a good judge of whether or not someone else is? Come along to a second performance of the staged reading of the play Good People, by David Lindsay-Abaire. Jill Holmes produced this play in September. Our own talented Holy Spirits make up the cast of four women and two men who bring to life this drama set in South Boston. We will not be holding any other programs during Lent, so please join us for our Friday evening programs.

Fridays in Lent: Stations of the Cross will be offered at 5:30 p.m. followed by a soup and bread supper at 6 p.m., in the Parish Hall followed by Jesus at the Movies at 7 p.m. Please come to any or all of these offerings.

Friday, March 14: Walking the Labyrinth 10 a.m. Parish Hall. Margaret Rappaport will facilitate a walk on our canvas, indoor, Chartres-style Labyrinth in the Parish Hall. Our walk will be candlelit and will be accompanied by original music courtesy of Darlene Hagon. The Labyrinth is available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Friday, March 14: Joan Chittister, a Benedictine sister and one of the most popular AND prophetic voices in contemporary Christianity, has written a powerful set of meditations on the Way of the Cross. Excerpts will be used for the Stations of the Cross service on Friday, March 14 at 5:30 p.m. in the Church. Come and see!

Saturday, March 15: A Lenten Quiet Day: Called into Sacred Silence at 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Patricia Clock, M.Div, and Spiritual Director, from Our Lady of the Cape Church, will lead us in a Lenten Quiet Day, assisted by Mother Sarah. We will gather at 9:30 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Please bring a bag lunch. The Labyrinth will be available all day.

Sunday, March 16: Shepherd Groups at 5 p.m. – Brewster/Dennis Group at the home of Cynthia and Herb Wieboldt, 76 Forest Pines Drive, East Dennis. Please call Cynthia at 508-385- 6928. Eastham/Wellfleet Group will meet for potluck at the home of Jean and Bob Collins, 142 Whidah Way, Wellfleet. Call Jody at 508-255-4058 or Patti at 508-255-3532 for a ride. Orleans Group: Will not meet in March but will meet on April 27, the week after Easter.

Wednesday, March 19: Men’s Lunch Group, 12:30 p.m. in the Fireplace Room. This group meets every third Wednesday. Members bring their own lunch while snacks and coffee are provided. For inquiries call Bruce Lederhouse, 508-801-0654) or Brian Skea, 774-279-3454.

CHS Artist: The featured artist for the month of March is FOOD FOR KIDS coordinated by Ruth Campbell. The display will be an educational and informational experience for everyone in our parish and those who visit us during March. The display will also include opportunities for all ages to sign up to help at any time during our 8 weeks of operation, June 30-August 22, 2014. Free Shop: Hours – Monday, 12 Noon to 3 p.m. and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Free Shop is in need of winter coats and hooded sweatshirts; also accepting winter clothing, books, small household items, paper and plastic shopping bags. Sharyn Laughton: 508-255-7277.

Galley West Gift Shop: The Gift Shop will be open Sundays 11 a.m. to 12 Noon, and Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon.
