Announcements for May 3 – 10

EasterSunday, May 4: Adult Education at 9 a.m. – Parish Hall – Through May 25; “Texts of the Resurrection”, Sunday mornings during the Great 50 Days of Easter, we will be taking a close look at the Resurrection Narratives including the Synoptic Gospels, Acts and 1 Corinthians.

Sunday, May 4: Concert – On Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall the Cape Community Orchestra, John P. Hagon music director will present a concert of orchestral favorites. Selections include music by Brahms, Ravel, Stravinsky, Offenbach and a performance of two movements from Dvorak’s “New World Symphony.” Admission is free (free will donations accepted). The orchestra includes members of the Holy Spirit congregation.

Thursday, May 8: Thursdays at Three – Wisdom Literature at 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Sharon Inger will lead a 4-week study of The Wisdom Books: A Study of Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Job.

Summer Fair – Save the Date – Saturday, July 26, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – We need your ideas and help! Please come to a meeting on Thursday, May 8 in the Fireplace Room at 1 p.m.  There will be sign up sheets in the Parish Hall for volunteers. Now is the time to start saving paper back books (no hard covers, please) summer toys, games, bikes, sports equipment, beach stuff. Church drop-offs will begin in June! Questions? Going to the Son – High School Class Retreat July 8-July 15 to Glacier National Park, Montana. You will be seeing a lot of fundraising activities in the coming weeks. Please support our kids in these worthwhile endeavors.

Wednesday, May 21: Men’s Lunch Group will continue meeting on every third Wednesday of the month from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Fireplace Room. The purpose of the men’s lunch group is to provide a forum where men of the parish can meet together informally for lunch and general collegiality. Members bring their own lunch while snacks and coffee are provided. For interested inquiries call Bruce at 508-801-0654 or Brian at 774-279-3454.

Fridays, May 23: Walking the Labyrinth – The Labyrinth is a spiritual walking exercise that quiets and centers to encourage meditation. At 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. the walk is candlelit and accompanied by music courtesy of Darlene Hagon. The Labyrinth is available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. for silent reflection. Please join our labyrinth community and help us “bring life to the labyrinth” at our Church.

Tuesday, May 27: Justice & Peace Film – Fr. Ken will show “Martin Luther King in Palestine,” on Tuesday, May 27 at 9:30 a.m. in the Library. Please call Fr. Ken if you want to attend this film as space is limited.

Planned Giving: “Procrastination” – We all know that word! Members of the Planned Giving Committee have information to help you to take the next step in your planning process. Starting a “Family Legacy Plan” and or selecting a “Charitable Gift Annuity” are two options available. The information is available at the Parish Hall Display Table or at the Church Web Site: Planned Giving.

CHS Artist: The featured artist for the month of April is Kathy Fitch. Kathy uses water based oils to create paintings with an “Impressionistic” flare. Enjoy Kathy’s show! Plans have begun for the CHS summer fair on Saturday, July 26th. Not too early to begin planning to be a “vendor” and/or donate one of your “creations” to the CHS ARTISTS SHOW. Contemplative/Centering Prayer: Silent, meditative prayer will be held every Tuesday at 12 noon and on Thursdays at 10:30 a.m. in St. Dunstan’s Chapel, located in the lower level of the church. All are welcome. If you are interested in participating in a small contemplative prayer group at another date and time, please contact Nancy Crewdson at 650-714-1862 or email at nancy@cambria.com.

Fair Trade Update: Thanks to all for your patronage! We now have six types of chocolate (including eggs) six types of coffee (including a strong French Roast), as well as fabulous marmalade, strawberry jam and honey, all organic! See Fr. Ken if you have any requests for products.

Free Shop: Hours – Monday, 12 Noon to 3 p.m. and Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Free Shop is now accepting SPRING clothing. Donations can be dropped off any time the Parish Hall is open. If the shop is closed – there is a container outside the Free Shop door for your dona- tions to this vital CHS Ministry. Sharyn Laughton: 508-255-7277.

Galley West Gift Shop: We will be open Sundays 11 a.m. to 12 Noon and Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon. Please come and support this valuable ministry at CHS.
