Sunday, November 2: Adult Sunday School – 9 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Studying the Prophets: Amos, Hosea and Micah. Returning to the Old Testament, the Sunday morning class will take a close look at three of its prophetic books. These are short books. So if you can, read them before class and come with questions. Sunday, November 2: Book Discussion Group – after the 10 a.m. service in the Fireplace Room. We are reading Amy Jill Levine’s Short Stories by Jesus, an exploration of the parables from the perspective of the people who heard them first hand. All are welcome.
Wednesday, November 5: Justice & Peace: INTERFAITH BOOK STUDY at 10 a.m. in the Library. Fr. Ken Campbell and his colleagues, Dr. Abdul Raoof, expert on Middle East culture and politics and Dr. Sharon Leder, expert on Judaism and women’s studies will lead a 6 session study of Embracing Israel/Palestine: A strategy to Heal and Transform the Middle East, by Rabbi Michael Lerner. Friday, November 14: Walking the Labyrinth at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall. The Labyrinth is a spiritual walking exercise that quiets the mind, opens the heart and centers the body to en-courage meditation. Margaret Rappaport facilitates a walk on our indoor canvas Chartres-style Labyrinth. The 10 a.m. walk is candle-lit and is accompanied by music courtesy of Darlene Hagon. The labyrinth is available for individual walks from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
Friday, November 14: Our November Garden Party from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. We’ll be doing some fall trimming and lots of garden clean up. This should be the final party of 2014 so there will be lots for all to do. Please and bring clippers, rakes and containers to haul debris to the curb. Thanks again for all of your help this season. CHS Artist: The featured CHS artists for the month of November is Janet Winter. Janet has had a long “career” in art – from painting oil and watercolor landscapes to commercial work including designing greeting cards, to writing and illustrating children’s books. YOUTH CHOIR: It has been the custom for a Youth Choir to sing at the Church of the Holy Spirit Christmas Eve service. The opportunity to do so again this year is available. On the first and third Sundays of each month, we will be rehearsing in the church immediately following the 10 a.m. service. Rehearsals will be limited to 30 minutes.
