fall-leavesPLEASE NOTE: Our Saturday service starting TODAY, November 1, moves to our winter hour 4 p.m. Also, please remember that daylight savings time ends so our clocks “fall back” an hour in the middle of the night this Sunday, November 2, 2014.

Sunday, November 2: Adult Sunday School – 9 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Studying the Prophets: Amos, Hosea and Micah. Returning to the Old Testament, the Sunday morning class will take a close look at three of its prophetic books. These are short books. So if you can, read them before class and come with questions. We will see what we can discover together. Sharon Inger

Sunday, November 2: Book Discussion Group – after the 10 a.m. service in the Fireplace Room. We are reading Amy Jill Levine’s Short Stories by Jesus, an exploration of the parables from the perspective of the people who heard them first hand. All are welcome.

Wednesday, November 5: Justice & Peace: INTERFAITH BOOK STUDY at 10 a.m. in the Library. Fr. Ken Campbell and his colleagues, Dr. Abdul Raoof, expert on Middle East culture and politics and Dr. Sharon Leder, expert on Judaism and women’s studies will lead a 6 session study of Embracing Israel/Palestine: A strategy to Heal and Transform the Middle East, by Rabbi Michael Lerner. Thursday, November 6: LUNCHEON GET TOGETHER FOR WOMEN OF THE PARISH: Please join us in the Parish Hall at 12 noon. Thursday, November 6: Thursdays at Three – Judith Davis+, is returning for another series of Thursdays at Three – November 6, 13, and 20 featuring Illustrating our own Journals.  Meet in the Parish Hall on Nov 6th.

Friday, November 14: Walking the Labyrinth at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall. The Labyrinth is a spiritual walking exercise that quiets the mind, opens the heart and centers the body to en-courage meditation. Margaret Rappaport facilitates a walk on our indoor canvas Chartres-style Labyrinth. The 10 a.m. walk is candle-lit and is accompanied by music courtesy of Darlene Hagon. The labyrinth is available for individual walks from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

Friday, November 14: Our November Garden Party from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. We’ll be doing some fall trimming and lots of garden clean up. This should be the final party of 2014 so there will be lots for all to do. Please and bring clippers, rakes and containers to haul debris to the curb. Thanks again for all of your help this season. CHS Artist: The featured CHS artists for the month of November is Janet Winter. Janet has had a long “career” in art – from painting oil and watercolor landscapes to commercial work including designing greeting cards, to writing and illustrating children’s books. Janet’s newest works have become more whimsical, hoping to bring a happy moment to the viewer. Be happy – enjoy Janet’s show in the CHS Gallery! Free Shop: The shop is now accepting WINTER Clothing. All donations can be dropped off any day the parish hall is open. If the shop is closed there is a container outside the door. Galley West: Fall Hours: The shop is now open Sundays from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon and Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon. Thank you.

Habitat for Humanity: Snacks needed to feed our hungry volunteers! CHS is sponsoring a build on Bevans Way in Orleans. We will need snacks on the 4th Tuesday of every month starting on November 25 through the spring of 2015 until the house is completed. Please call Kathy Goddard at 508-255-3818.

Stewardship: Pledge packets have been mailed to homes. If you did not receive one please contact the Parish Office. Please prayerfully complete your pledge and return ASAP. Thank you for your generosity. Pledges received will be blessed on an In-Gathering Weekend – November 29/30 and December 6/7.

YOUTH CHOIR: It has been the custom for a Youth Choir to sing at the Church of the Holy Spirit Christmas Eve service. The opportunity to do so again this year is available. On the first and third Sundays of each month, we will be rehearsing in the church immediately following the 10 a.m. service. Rehearsals will be limited to 30 minutes. The 37th Annual Holiday Antiques Show and Sale
Friday, November 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, November 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall.  Admission is $5. per person ($4. with a discount ad or ticket).
