Sunday, November 9: Adult Sunday School – 9 a.m. in the Parish Hall. Studying the Prophets: Amos, Hosea and Micah. Returning to the Old Testament, the Sunday morning class will take a close look at three of its prophetic books. These are short books. So if you can, read them before class and come with questions. Sunday, November 9: Book Discussion Group – after the 10 a.m. service in the Fireplace Room. We are reading Amy Jill Levine’s Short Stories by Jesus, an exploration of the parables from the perspective of the people who heard them first hand. All are welcome.
Thursday, November 13: Thursdays at Three – Judith Davis+, is returning for another series of Thursdays at Three – November 6, 13, and 20 featuring Illustrating our own Journals.
Friday, November 14: Walking the Labyrinth at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall. The Labyrinth is a spiritual walking exercise that quiets the mind, opens the heart and centers the body to encourage meditation. Margaret Rappaport facilitates a walk on our indoor canvas Chartres-style Labyrinth. The 10 a.m. walk is candle-lit and is accompanied by music courtesy of Darlene Hagon. The labyrinth is available for individual walks from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall.
Friday, November 14: Our November Garden Party from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. We’ll be doing some fall trimming and lots of garden clean up. This should be the final party of 2014 so there will be lots for all to do. Please and bring clippers, rakes and containers to haul debris to the curb. Thanks again for all of your help this season. The 37th Annual Holiday Antiques Show and Sale Friday, November 28, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday, November 29, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Admission is $5. per person ($4. with a discount ad or ticket).
Sunday, November 30: Advent Wreath Making for the whole parish after the 10 a.m. service, in the Parish Hall. If possible please bring “greens” to use and share. All other materials will be provided. Candles will be available if you already have your Advent wreath. Don’t miss this traditional event sponsored by the Church School! Following the Advent Wreath Making, there will be a Salad Luncheon with sandwiches for the children. Signup sheets are in the Reception Room and Parish Hall. CHS December Artist: In the November issue of Together it was announced that there would be a reprise of the display of my crèche collection during the month of December in the CHS gallery. It was very gratifying to share my nativity sets with everyone in 2013 and I am delighted to be asked to do it again. I do hope some members of the congregation will consider adding their own favorite nativity to the show.
