winter seashoreSunday, February 1: YOUTH GROUP BREAKFAST – Please come to this special breakfast after the 10 a.m. service.

Sunday, February 1: Book Discussion Group – after the 10 a.m. service in the Fireplace Room. Is starting a new book by Rowan Williams, “Being Christian, Baptism, Bible, Eucharist, Prayer.” Come join us as we delve into this slim pamphlet which presents a summation of his thinking about being a Christian by the recent Archbishop of Canterbury.

Thursday, February 5: WOMEN’S LUNCHEON – Women of the parish are invited to our monthly luncheon at 12 noon in the Parish Hall. We had 22 women last month on the coldest day of the year—shall we try to break that attendance record this month? Volunteers for the day are Sara Fry, Ginny Clarendon and Janet Winter. Bring a sandwich to share—dessert and beverages are supplied. Please bring canned goods for the Food Pantry as well. If you need a ride, call Sandy Marshall.

Thursday, February 5: THURSDAYS AT THREE – February 5, and February 12 from 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m. in the Parish Hall. “Praying and Singing with Handel’s Messiah” Please join us for a three session series, one for each of the three parts of Handel’s Messiah, one of the greatest masterworks of art and faith. These sessions will include listening to recorded portions, reflections, and—yes—some singing along, too! Led by Dilys Smith.

Saturday, February 7: Episcopal City Mission: Mission Discernment Day: Church of the Holy Spirit, 204 Monument Road, Orleans, MA Come and learn about how you can engage in the work we are doing to bring about a more just society here in Eastern Massachusetts. Meet members of the Life Together internship program – Micah Fellows engaging in the work of social change. Participate in a facilitated conversation with other ECM supporters who are passionate about making our communities stronger. Learn about the emerging public policy initiates for 2015. Sunday, February 8: 10 a.m. service – CHILDREN’S INSTRUCTED EUCHARIST – at the main altar with Father Adam after Church School classes.

Friday, February 13: Walking the Labyrinth at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall. The Labyrinth is a spiritual walking exercise that quiets the mind, opens the heart and centers the body to encourage meditation. Margaret Rappaport facilitates a walk on our indoor canvas Chartres-style Labyrinth. The 10 a.m. walk is candle-lit and is accompanied by music courtesy of Darlene Hagon. The labyrinth is available for individual walks from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. in the Parish Hall.

Tuesday, February 17: SHROVE TUESDAY PANCAKE SUPPER for the whole parish – 5:30 p.m. – colorful paper hats, Mardi Gras beads, pancakes and more, singing with and by the Church School choir……home & happy by 7:30 p.m.! This is an annual event sponsored by the Church School. Sign up to bring a dessert – sign up poster is on the Youth bulletin board in the Gathering Room.

Wednesday, FEBRUARY 18, – ASH WEDNESDAY SERVICES – 7:00 a.m. Eucharist, 10:00 a.m. Eucharist, and 7:30 p.m. Eucharist.

CHS Artist: The featured CHS artist for the month of January is Sean Chung. Don’t miss Sean’s extraordinary photographs in the CHS gallery/Reception Room – be amazed at what a talented young man sees. There are still a few months available in 2015 to exhibit/sell your art for one month in the CHS gallery. The sign up sheet is located in the gallery by the door. Questions? Children Activity Bags: Are available for loan to keep our children “busy” during the Service.  Please feel free to take advantage of them.

COFFEE HOUR HOSTS: Just a reminder; you can sign up for hosting coffee hour in the Parish Hall. We need new participants in the New Year! Beverages are provided. You just need to bring something to go with them! Thank you, Michele Puzo

Free Shop: Thank you for your continued support & donations to the Free Shop. The shop is now accepting WINTER Clothing. All donations can be dropped off any day the Parish Hall is open. Galley West: Now open Sundays from 11 a.m. to 12 noon and Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Thank you.

Green Team: Possible New Year’s Pledges: Energy: I will turn off all home electronics, including computers, overnight. If computers and other equipment are used throughout the day and must remain on, I will use the standby or energy saver mode where possible. I will line dry my clothes, cloth napkins, table cloths, dish towels, etc., to the extent feasible in my home.
