5390888505_8d90b195e2Easter Flower Envelopes are in the pews this weekend, March 21 and 22 so that you can offer flowers in memory of (or in thanksgiving for) loved ones. Please print clearly on the envelopes your name and those for whom the flowers are given. Include your donation and place your envelope in the Offertory plate. Deadline – Monday, March 23.

Saturday, March 21: Our Communion Preparation classes continue through next Saturday, March 28; meeting at 10 a.m. in the church. We will conclude on Sunday, April 12 – in the church – with a rehearsal at 9:45 a.m. and our Presentation of the Communion Class at the 10 a.m. service.

Sunday, March 22: Adult Education – 9 a.m. in the Parish Hall – We will be continuing the reflective group bible study of John’s Gospel. You can join anytime! Adult Sunday School will not be meeting on either March 29 or April 5.

Sunday, March 22: Book Discussion Group – after the 10 a.m. service in the Fireplace Room. The book discussion, which takes place after the ten o’clock service in the fireplace room, will begin reading Dallas Willard’s masterpiece, The Renovation of the Heart. All are welcome.

March 24th:  30 Days of Action, starting March 24th, is an invitation for individuals to address climate change for 30 days – to learn, advocate, act, proclaim, eat, play and pray. Focusing on environmental change on a personal, community and global level for 30 days can help Episcopalians proclaim a commitment to caring for God’s creation.  Sign up at http://www.episcopalchurch.org/page/30-days-action to receive a daily email during 30 Days of Action.

Friday, March 27: 5 p.m. – Contemporary Way of the Cross (written by Benedictine Sister Joan Chittister), 5:45 p.m. – Soup and Bread supper, 6:15 p.m., The Criminal Justice System in America Today, with former inmates Lillie Williams, Marshall Harris and Marinella Blake representing Ex-Prisoners and Prisoners Organizing for Community Action followed by questions and discussion. Please come and welcome them to Holy Spirit!

Sunday, March 29: 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Please SAVE THE DATE for the wonderful We Are The Men Benefit Concert! We Are The Men is a singing group that raises money for Habitat for Humanity, a helpful housing charity that is supported by CHS. Come for music, food, wine; have a good time while supporting a great cause.

Wednesday, April 1: Walking the Way of the Cross at 5 p.m. – Please join us for our annual Holy Week service and supper. This year the service will include hands on activities to illustrate and emphasize parts of the service. The service is followed by a supper in the Parish Hall. Sign up and indicate your choice of meal (Lasagna or Macaroni and Cheese) in the Gathering Room of the Church School or contact Joan McFadden at 774 722-4942.

Sunday, April 5: Easter Sunday – 8 a.m. & 10 a.m. – Holy Eucharist with Easter Egg Hunt after the 10 a.m. service

TIME TO FILL THE EGGS
Empty plastic eggs can be picked up by the fireplace in the CHS Gallery/Reception Room. Eggs can be filled with WRAPPED candies (please, NO peanuts or peanut butter), small trinkets and returned to the same place. Thank you for making this annual & traditional Easter Egg Hunt so wonderful for our CHS children & visitors!

Friday, April 3: 29th Annual United People for Kids Good Friday Walk – Registration at 8:30 a.m. at Crosby Landing Beach where this year’s walk will be held. Crosby Landing Beach is at the end of Crosby Lane off Rte. 6A in Brewster. The walk benefits children with special needs and their families on Cape Cod and the Islands. Questions? Friday, April 3: Good Friday Labyrinth Walk at 3 p.m. in the Parish Hall. Please join us for a special labyrinth walk that brings together the meditative power of the labyrinth, sacred music, soft lighting and the Stations of the Cross. The Stations will be arrayed visually around the labyrinth and the liturgy will be read aloud by others as you walk, leaving you free to follow the path and contemplate its meaning for you.

CHS Artist: The featured CHS artist for the month of March is FOOD FOR KIDS. The exhibit is displayed by Ruth Campbell – director of Food for Kids. Free Shop: Thank you for your continued support & donations to the Free Shop. The shop is still accepting warm clothing. All donations can be dropped off any day the Parish Hall is open. If the shop is closed there is a container outside the door. The shop is open Mondays 12 noon to 3 p.m. and Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Questions? Welcoming Committee: The next Sundays are some of the most important days of our holy year. We will have new friends joining us for these services. Please make these people feel welcome by helping them find a place in your pew and sharing a prayer book or a hymnal. You might also extend an invitation to them to join us for Coffee Hour.
