goldenrodNote: Our rector, Fr. Adam Linton, is on sabbatical. During his time away, our half-time assisting priest, Mother Liza Spangler, will be in the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and other days as may be required. If you would like to meet with her for any reason, please call her to make an appointment at 716-796-5084.

Sunday, August 7 and Sunday August 14: ADULT EDUCATION – Using the Book of Common Prayer for Personal Devotion, Mother Liza will discuss the variety of ways the Book of Common Prayer can be a tremendous aid to a life of prayer. The class will meet from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in the Fireplace Room. If you have your own Book of Common Prayer, you might want to bring it but we will also have copies available.

Sunday, August 7: Please attend the YOUTH GROUP BRUNCH & THE BUDGET OPEN MEETING. The two activities will take place together in the Parish Hall after the 10 a.m. service.

PLEASE NOTE – NEXT SUNDAY.  Sunday, August 7: THE BUDGET OPEN MEETING: This is a Parish wide open meeting, in the Parish Hall after the 10 a.m. service. We will be discussing Finances and our 2017 Budget. Please come!

Labyrinth Walk.  Friday, August 12: The Labyrinth at Church of the Holy Spirit – Our scheduled 10 a.m. walk focuses on “True Vulnerability”. It will encourage us not to fear the unknown and the inevitable perils of life. The meditation will strengthen our trust in God for guidance and protection. Dr. Margaret Rappaport, will guide the walk. Darlene T. Hagon, will offer meditative music focused on Creation and Earth. The Rev. Anne Koehler will offer theological reflection. All are welcome to join us in the sacred space of the labyrinth for personal and communal meditation and faithful contemplation.

Tuesday, August 30: RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE – From 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. we will have the Red Cross Blood Drive at Church of the Holy Spirit, in the Parish Hall.

CHURCH SCHOOL NEWS.  SUMMER SUNDAY VEGGIE TALE THEATER – Now through September 4 – Under the Parish Hall & across from the Nursery from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. – then children join their families in church. All ages will enjoy! Nursery care available for infants & toddlers – 4 years and younger! August 7: Beauty and the Beet – a lesson in unconditional love. August 14: The League of In-credible Vegetables – a lesson in handling fear. August 21: Pistachio, the little boy who woodn’t – a lesson in listening to your parents. August 28: Madame Blueberry – a lesson in thankfulness. September 4: Moon Menace on Planet Tell-a-Lie – featuring 3, 2, 1, penguins.

CHS ARTIST: The featured CHS artist for the month of July is Leslie Jones. Leslie’s exhibit is titled Doors, Windows, Passageways & Facades. It is comprised of photos/painting photos depicting subjects taken in England & Ireland. The displayed images are enlarged, but 5×7 cards of each image will be available; send to a friend or to keep like prayer cards to assist you on your journey of getting to know God and yourself more intimately. FREE SHOP: The Free Shop is gladly accepting SUMMER clothing. Open on Mondays: 12 Noon to 3 p.m. and Wednesdays: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Your donations can be dropped off any time the Parish Hall is open. GALLEY WEST GIFT SHOP: SUMMER HOURS FOR GALLEY WEST GIFT SHOP: Monday through Thursday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Please bring ALL your company by! Barbara Hoffman

LEMONADE ON THE LAWN: For the months of July and August we will be serving lemonade and cookies after the 10 a.m. service. Please sign up on the posted sheet in the Parish Hall to bring cookies. The lemonade is provided. We hope you will all enjoy this new and delicious change for the summer!

NOAH: NO OTHER AFFORDABLE HOUSING – CHS has been taking the evening meal to the shelter in Hyannis on the 4th Friday of the month for years. All of the grand volunteers who have served, baked and made cookies need help! Are you interested in putting in some time for those less fortunate once a month or every other month? It’s POP TOP time again! Please leave them on the window sill in the Kitchen.

ST. MARTHA’S WOMEN’S GUILD: Is in need of metal coffee cans with tops. Please drop them off at the office between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

THREE PROPOSALS: Would you be interested in helping with one of the following three proposals? 1. Establish a chapter of the Network of Spiritual Progressives on Cape Cod (Rabbi Michael Lerner); 2. Help educate ourselves and youth about the drug epidemic on Cape Cod; 3. Help with an interfaith Refugee Support team? If so, please see “Three Proposals” on the desk in the reception room and on the Fair Trade display in the Parish Hall.

SUMMER CHOIR: Our tradition at CHS is to provide a Summer Choir for the 10 a.m. service each week (June 5 – Sept. 4). Singers – all voice ranges – are invited to come any Sunday for a rehearsal in the Church at 9 a.m. Since this is the only weekly rehearsal during the Summer, we ask those who wish to participate on Sundays to be present for this important rehearsal at 9 a.m. Vestments are not worn. Please come and join the choir any Sunday and bring your relatives and friends. All are welcome. Darlene Hagon
