Sunday August 14: ADULT EDUCATION – Using the Book of Common Prayer for Personal Devotion, Mother Liza will discuss the variety of ways the Book of Common Prayer can be a tremendous aid to a life of prayer. This class will meet from 9 to 9:45 a.m. in the Fireplace Room. If you have your own Book of Common Prayer, you might want to bring it but we will also have copies available.
Tuesday, August 30: RED CROSS BLOOD DRIVE – From 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. – Red Cross Blood Drive will be held here at Church of the Holy Spirit, in the Parish Hall.

CHURCH SCHOOL NEWS: SUMMER SUNDAY VEGGIE TALE THEATER – Now through September 4 – Under the Parish Hall & across from the Nursery from 9:45 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. – then children join their families in church. All ages will enjoy! Nursery care available for infants & toddlers – 4 years and younger! August 14: The League of Incredible Vegetables – a lesson in handling fear. August 21: Pistachio, the little boy who woodn’t – a lesson in listening to your parents. August 28: Madame Blueberry – a lesson in thankfulness. September 4: Moon Menace on Planet Tell-a-Lie – featuring 3, 2, 1, penguins.
Thursday, September 22: Save the Date! The Welcoming Paths Committee has planned a wonderful ALL PARISH POT LUCK on Thursday, September 22 in the Parish Hall from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. We will have TOAST AND JAM, our favorite musical group, provide a show for you. So, do save the date and more information will follow!

CHS ARTIST: The featured CHS artist for the month of August is Cheryl Kyle. Cheryl’s show includes Tinga Tinga paintings from Tanzania and Maasai beaded jewelry. All proceeds from the sales are donated to Endupoto Primary School, a Maasai school with over 404 students in Tanzania. FREE SHOP: The Free Shop is gladly accepting SUMMER clothing. Open on Mondays: 12 Noon to 3 p.m. and Wednesdays: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Your donations can be dropped off any time the Parish Hall is open. GALLEY WEST GIFT SHOP: Thanks to our faithful volunteers and to our customers who support the Galley West gift Shop. As of September 12, the shop will be open Mondays from 10 AM to 12 Noon and Sunday’s from 11 AM to 12 Noon.
PET FOOD DRIVE: The Creation Care Team at St. Mary’s in Barnstable, with CCDART (Cape Cod Disaster Animal Response Team), is holding a pet food drive here from Sunday, August 21 to Sunday, August 28 (look for the basket in the reception room). Please donate dry and/or canned dog and cat food to distribute to help elderly and low-income members of our community feed their pets. Our Team is also working to educate local Episcopal churches about issues of animal welfare, of treating God’s creatures with the same love that God has for them.
It’s POP TOP time again! Please leave them on the window sill in the Kitchen.
ST. MARTHA’S WOMEN’S GUILD: Is in need of metal coffee cans with tops. Please drop them off at the office between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
SUMMER CHOIR: Our tradition at CHS is to provide a Summer Choir for the 10 a.m. service each week (June 5 – Sept. 4). Singers – all voice ranges – are invited to come any Sunday for a rehearsal in the Church at 9 a.m. Since this is the only weekly rehearsal during the Summer, we ask those who wish to participate on Sundays to be present for this important rehearsal at 9 a.m. Vestments are not worn. Please come and join the choir any Sunday and bring your relatives and friends. All are welcome. Darlene Hagon
