Sunday, September 25: A Food 4 Kids Thank You Celebration begins during the 10 am service with a presentation of the New Partnership Award. After the service, in the Parish Hall we will enjoy a Brown Bag Lunch (Meatball Subs – the favorite!), a F4K Slide Show and Golden Coupons! All are welcome as we say thanks to everyone who made F4K 2014 a huge success!

ANGELICA SERIES: Controversies at the Frontier Of Ethics, Medicine and Culture. On Saturday, October 8 at 2 pm in the Parish Hall, we will hear the first of four talks by four of our nation’s leading thinkers in the field of ethics. The topic is the human genome. The speaker is Eric Juengst, Director of the Center for Bioethics at UNC. His talk is entitled, And Who Are Your People? Personal Identity and Tribalism in 21st Century Genomic Medicine. Don’t miss this rare opportunity to gain deeper appreciation into the issues confronting medicine. Suggested donation $20, as able. Nominating Committee.  The Vestry has formed the Nominating Committee and given it its charge in preparation for the Church of the Holy Spirit’s next Annual Meeting, January 2017. Appointed to the Committee were Joan Kirkby, Sandy Marshall, Gilbert Merritt and Anne Moronta. Also appointed to the Committee was outgoing Vestry Member, Warden Rick Paris. At the Annual Meeting, the parish will elect one Warden for a two year term, a Treasurer and a Clerk, each for a one year term, and four Vestry at large members, each for a two year term. Anyone interested in making suggestions for the open 2017 positions is encouraged to contact a Nominating Committee member.

MUSIC NEWS: During the month of September the Adult Choir will continue our Summer Schedule of Sunday rehearsals at 9 am in the church prior to the 10 am service. Adult Choir rehearsals will resume on Wednesdays from 7-8:30 pm beginning Wednesday, October 5 in the North Transept of the Church. New members for all music groups are invited to join us! GALLEY WEST GIFT SHOP: Thanks to our faithful volunteers and to our customers who support the Galley West Gift Shop. As of September 6, the shop will be open Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon and Sunday’s from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon.

ST. MARTHA’S WOMEN’S GUILD: Is in need of metal coffee cans with tops. Please drop them off at the office between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

ANNUAL RUMMAGE SALE—Friday, October 14 & Saturday, October 15. Start saving your much needed donations for this popular sale! Drop-off at the Parish Hall begins Wednesday October 12. We need CLEAN adult and children’s clothing, shoes and boots in wearable condi-tion, White Elephant items such as small appliances in WORKING order, small furniture, books and children’s toys.
