vintage-quiltsALL SAINTS SERVICE – Remembrance Forms.  The ushers will have these forms available this weekend (October 22 & 23). If you would like to have your loved one remembered at our All Saints Service on November 6, please fill out the form and place it in the offering plate. Deadline, Thursday – October 27.

Sunday, October 23: BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP – in the Fireplace Room after the 10 am service. We are reading Chapters 5 and 6 of Falling Upward by Richard Rohr. Brian & Brooke Skea.

Tuesday, October 25: 7 pm – A Road to Home in the Parish Hall. A film exploring the crisis of LGBTQ youth homelessness in NYC, sponsored by Justice and Peace. Admission: Free will offering.

Thursday, November 3: LADIES LUNCHEON – 12 Noon in the Parish Hall. It is early this month, so put it on your calendar and come join us. Call and email your CHS friends and ask them to come too. It’s easy, just bring a sandwich. Drinks, chips and dessert will be provided. Our committee volunteers for this month are Joan Proctor bringing centerpieces, Fay bringing chips, and Ginny Lucil and Georgia Schneider bringing a lemon for tea and milk for coffee. Lorrie Linton will be back with us as co-chair.

ANGELICA SERIES: Controversies at the Frontier Of Ethics, Medicine and Culture, On Saturday, November 5 at 2 pm in the Parish Hall, we will hear the third of four outstanding talks by some of our nation’s leading thinkers in the field of ethics. The speaker will be Jamie Lindemann Nelson: her topic is entitled, “Sex and Sensibilities: Medicine, Ethics and Gender as Choice”. Jamie Lindemann Nelson is Professor of Philosophy at Michigan State University and a very influential and prolific author with deep interest in literature, the family, and sexual identity.  Suggested donation $20, as able. MUSIC NEWS: Adult Choir rehearsals have resumed: Wednesdays from 7 to 8:30 pm in the North Transept of the Church. New members for all music groups are invited to join us! The annual CHRISTMAS BAZAAR will be held on Saturday, November 19. Join St. Martha’s & Kimball Guilds on Monday mornings as they create beautiful items to sell. Please gather your “no longer wanted treasures” to donate to the White Elephant Bazaar sale, AND PLEASE….plan on making something for our Food Table or Cookie Walk.

GALLEY WEST GIFT SHOP: Thanks to our faithful volunteers and to our customers who support the Galley West Gift Shop. The shop is open Mondays from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon.

ST. MARTHA’S WOMEN’S GUILD: Is in need of coffee cans with tops. Please drop them off at the office between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.

39th ANNUAL HOLIDAY ANTIQUES SHOW AND SALE – SAVE THE DATES! Friday, November 25, 10 am – 4 p.m. and Saturday, November 26, 10 am – 3 pm. 25 dealers from the New Eng-land will gather in the Parish Hall offering a wide range of choice antiques. In June you received a letter asking for your support of this longstanding CHS fund raising tradition. Please join us and help to make our 39th year the best yet! Nominating Committee.  The Vestry has formed the Nominating Committee and given it its charge in preparation for the Church of the Holy Spirit’s next Annual Meeting, January 2017. Appointed to the Committee were Joan Kirkby, Sandy Marshall, Gilbert Merritt and Anne Moronta. Also appointed to the Committee was outgoing Vestry Member, Warden Rick Paris. At the Annual Meeting, the parish will elect one Warden for a two year term, a Treasurer and a Clerk, each for a one year term, and four Vestry-at-large members, each for a two year term. Anyone interested in making suggestions for the open 2017 positions is encouraged to contact a Nominating Committee member.
