Announcements April 1 – 7

Easter Flower Envelopes are in the pews this weekend, April 1 and 2, so that you can offer flowers in memory of (or in thanksgiving for) loved ones. Please print clearly on the envelopes your name and those for whom the flowers are given. Include your donation and place your envelope in the Offertory plate. Deadline – Monday, April 3.

Sunday, April 2: YOUTH BRUNCH – In the Parish Hall after the 10 am service. Come and enjoy the fun and yummy feast!

Sunday, April 2: BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP – This week, April 2 in the Fireplace Room after the 10 am service. We are reading Walter Brueggemann’s Devotions for Lent, A Way Other Than Our Own, WJK Press, 2017. We will read up to page 67. Brian and Brooke Skea

Thursday, April 6: LADIES LUNCHEON – Save the date and join us with a sandwich to share at 12 Noon in the Parish Hall. Enjoy conversation, fellowship, and laughter with friends old & new! April Committee: Jane Affleck – chips, Marge Farrell – half & half and lemon, Barbara Barre – paper goods and centerpieces, Betty Yearing – dessert, Lori Linton – beverage. Please come!

Fridays, April 7: STATIONS OF THE CROSS at 5:30 pm in the church. This will be followed by soup and bread supper with the last of a four-part presentation and discussion, led by Father Adam, titled, “Reading Scripture with the Mind in the Heart.” Sign up sheet for the Soup (one vegetarian)/ Bread supper is posted in the Reception Room.

Friday, April 7: GARDEN PARTY – If the weather cooperates, we’ll be able to spiff the place up before Easter Week. If not, please put the 21st on your calendar as an alternate date. My plan is to clean out the perennials, trim the ornamental grasses and rake out some of the beds. We might even get some pansies in the pots at the main entrances to the sanctuary and Parish Hall. Sunday, April 16: Easter Sunday: 8 a.m. & 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist with Easter Egg Hunt a er 10 a.m. service

TIME TO FILL THE EGGS – Empty plastic eggs can be picked up by the replace in the CHS Gallery/Reception Room. Eggs can be filled with WRAPPED candies (please, NO peanuts or peanut butter) and small trinkets and returned to the same place. Thank you for making this annual & traditional Easter Egg Hunt so wonderful for our CHS children & visitors!

Good Friday, April 14: 32nd Annual United People for Kids Good Friday Walk – This walk benefits children with special needs and their families on Cape Cod and the Islands. If you can’t walk with us but would like to pledge, you can pledge with one of our youth groupers, Donna Tavano or myself at the coffee hour. You can also mail your donation to U.P. for Kids, P.O. Good Friday, April 14: Good Friday Labyrinth Walk With Stations of the Cross in the Parish Hall at 3 pm. Our annual Good Friday walk features labyrinth banners displaying the Stations of the Cross with commentary by Rev. Anne Koehler and Dr. Margaret Rappaport, accompanied by sacred music selected by Darlene T. Hagon, Director of Music. Notably, the labyrinth walk will offer comfort crosses for participants to hold and a vessel of ashes for meditative focus. Join us for this meaningful Lenten walk. It is not necessary to walk the labyrinth. There is always the option to sit quietly in prayer and to meditate or to use a finger labyrinth if desired.

CHS ARTIST: The featured CHS artist for the month of April is Leslie Jones. PHOTO COLLAGES MADE INTO JIGSAW PUZZLES – Leslie writes: The collages represent a lifelong love of beauty and my determination to be surrounded by it. Come and enjoy! JUNE IS CRAFTERS MONTH in the Reception Room – if you: carve, stitch, pleat, paint, weave, decorate, glue, shape or repair – welcome! This year please plan to exhibit a long- me favorite creation or two? Call Jan Roberts at 508-255-6281.

FOOD 4 KIDS will be hiring a Staff Assistant for summer 2017 to assist the Operation and Kitchen Managers and work with volunteers. This will be a 40-hour/week position. We are looking for an energetic and responsible young adult with a valid MA driver’s license and own transportation. Must be committed to the spirit and mission of F4K.
