Something new at Church of the Holy Spirit beginning April 30. Look for Altar Flowers Request Cards at each entrance to the church. For a donation of fifty dollars, flowers will be purchased and arranged by the newly formed Flower Guild. You may choose to do this to remember someone or perhaps to celebrate a special occasion such as an anniversary or birthday. Thursday, May 4: LADIES LUNCHEON – At 12 Noon in the Parish Hall. The drill is to bring a sandwich to share and come to the Parish Hall on the first Thursday of every month. The committee for our May 4 meeting is: chips, Janet Winter; half & half and lemon, Sue Stevens; paper goods, Joan Proctor; centerpieces, Lori Linton; and dessert, Rev. Klondike. Questions? Sunday, May 7: YOUTH GROUP BRUNCH – Every first Sunday of the month, after the 10 am service, our Youth Group puts on a fabulous brunch in the Parish Hall. Every other month from June until December of this year they will be hosting a FOOD DRIVE. If you bring in a nonperishable food item, you will receive $1.00 off your delicious brunch and also you will be contributing to a valuable cause.
Sunday, May 7: 2017 BUDGET REVIEW – 11:30 a.m. in Parish Hall. Please join us for a presentation by our Treasurer, Steve Koehler, and Wardens, Rick Paris and Cynthia Murray, on CHS’ financial results through 1st Quarter 2017. Also, enjoy the wonderful Youth Group Brunch!
Friday, May 12: LABYRINTH WALK: At 10 am in the Parish Hall, theme – Devotion. Our guided walks are scheduled on the second Friday of every month at 10 am. Darlene T. Hagon, Director of Music selects music to encourage meditation on the theme. Rev. Anne Koehler opens the walk with a communal prayer in the center of the labyrinth. Dr. Margaret Rappaport, Veriditas-certified labyrinth facilitator offers a context for meditation on the theme. Afterward, some may share personal responses, followed by Rev. Koehler’s closing prayer. It is not necessary to walk the labyrinth. There is always the option to sit quietly in prayer and to meditate or to use a finger labyrinth if desired.
FOOD 4 KIDS has launched their annual drive for volunteers. This year we will be serving free meals to 400-500 children in 16 community programs on the Lower/Outer Cape from June 26 – August 25. We make and distribute those lunches with a very small paid staff and the generous efforts of volunteers like you. Sign up sheets are posted in the Reception Room/Gallery, which is open Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm. New this year is the ability to sign up online by clicking on the link on our church webpage, holyspiritorleans.org. Thank you.
Friday, May 12 and Sunday, May 14: The CAPE COMMUNITY ORCHESTRA will present its SPRING CONCERT SERIES on Friday, May 12, at 7:30 pm, at Our Lady of the Cape Parish Center, 456 Stony Brook Road in Brewster, and Sunday, May 14, at 3 pm, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 204 Monument Road in Orleans. The orchestra, which is directed by John P. Hagon, will perform a varied program of classical and popular music featuring Handel’s Water Music Suite, Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet,” and the last movement from Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2, as well as medleys of music by Lloyd Webber and George M. Cohen, and more. Admission is free; freewill donations are accepted at the door.

Sunday, May 21: THE WELCOMING PATHS COMMITTEE – Save the Date for this fun event, held during Coffee Hour a er the 10 am service. We’re hosting an Ice Cream Social in the Memorial Garden (weather permitting) to “show off” the wonderful garden and new hardscape including a new bench and fantastic fountain. We will have ice cream, cookies and coffee.
