Sunday, May 7: YOUTH GROUP BRUNCH – Every first Sunday of the month, after the 10 am service, our Youth Group puts on a fabulous brunch in the Parish Hall. Every other month from June until December of this year they will be hosting a FOOD DRIVE. If you bring in a non-perishable food item, you will receive $1.00 off your delicious brunch and also you will be contributing to a valuable cause!

Friday, May 12: LABYRINTH WALK: At 10 am in the Parish Hall, theme – Devotion. Our guided walks are scheduled on the second Friday of every month at 10 am. Darlene T. Hagon, Director of Music selects music to encourage meditation on the theme. The Rev. Anne Koehler opens the walk with a communal prayer in the center of the labyrinth. Dr. Margaret Rappaport, Veriditas-certified labyrinth facilitator offers a context for meditation on the theme. Volunteers from among the participating group “hold the space” during the walk. Afterward, some may share personal responses, followed by Anne’s closing prayer. It is not necessary to walk the labyrinth. There is always the option to sit quietly in prayer and to meditate or to use a finger labyrinth if desired.
Friday, May 12 and Sunday, May 14: SPRING CONCERT SERIES on Friday, May 12, at 7:30 pm, at Our Lady of the Cape Parish Center, 456 Stony Brook Road in Brewster, and Sunday, May 14, at 3 pm, at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 204 Monument Road in Orleans. The orchestra, which is directed by John P. Hagon, will perform a varied program of classical and popular music featuring Handel’s Water Music Suite, Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet,” and the last movement from Sibelius’s Symphony No. 2, as well as medleys of music by Lloyd Webber and George M. Cohen, and more. Admission is free; free-will donations are accepted at the door.
Sunday, May 14: Church School will begin with a youth-led service for the children in the gathering room on Mother’s Day, May 14. Mothers and other family members are welcome to join us! Church School News – Date changes: The last Sunday of Church School classes will be June 11. Youth Recognition Sunday and all-parish cookout will be Sunday June 18. Veggie Tale Summer Theater begins on Sunday June 25 in the room across from the Nursery.
Wednesday, May 17: MEN’S LUNCH GROUP will meet, as usual, on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, in the Fireplace Room. Questions? Call Bruce Lederhouse at 508-240-2853. Rides can be arranged. Bring your own sandwich and cold drink; coffee and snacks are provided by our donations.
Friday, May 19: MAY GARDEN PARTY – Please plan to be there to help us keep the CHS grounds tidy. Timing will be 9 am to 12 noon and I’ll have the usual Hole in One donut holes, coffee and cold water available. Gilbert Merritt.
Sunday, May 21: THE WELCOMING PATHS COMMITTEE – Save the Date for this fun event, held during Coffee Hour after the 10 am service. We’re hosting an Ice Cream Social in the Memorial Garden (weather permitting) to “show-off” the wonderful garden and new hardscape including a new bench and fantastic fountain. We will have ice cream, cookies and coffee.

Tuesday, May 23: Education for Ministry (EfM) is beginning registration for the 2017-2018 year. We have room for 2-4 new members and would love to talk to you about joining us. There is information on the bulletin board in the Parish Hall and in Together. In addition, there will be an “open meeting” on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at 1 pm in the library. There you can experience what an EfM session is like and have your questions answered. FOOD PANTRY DONATIONS: Please bring RICE to church next week for the Food Pantry. This is a simple task, but so rewarding to help people in need!
Something new at Church of the Holy Spirit – Look for Altar Flowers Request Cards at each entrance to the church. For a donation of fifty dollars, flowers will be purchased and arranged by the newly formed Flower Guild. You may choose to do this to remember someone or perhaps to celebrate a special occasion such as an anniversary or birthday. FOOD 4 KIDS has launched their annual drive for volunteers. This year we will be serving free meals to 400-500 children in 16 community programs on the Lower/Outer Cape from June 26 – August 25. We make and distribute those lunches with a very small paid staff and the generous efforts of volunteers like you. Sign up sheets are posted in the Reception Room/Gallery, which is open Monday to Thursday from 9 am to 3 pm. New this year is the ability to sign up online by clicking on the link on our church webpage, holyspiritorleans.org. Thank you.
