  • Monday, December 25 – 10:00 a.m. Christmas Morning Eucharist

CHRISTMAS FLOWER ENVELOPES are in the pews. Please print clearly the names of those you wish to have remembered, and also your Pledge number. Enclose your donation, made payable to The Church of the Holy Spirit. Place in the offering plate or drop off at the office. Deadline: Thursday, December 14. Thank you.

Saturday, December 2 and Sunday, December 3:  Annual First Fruits Sale –  9 am to 4 pm in the Parish Hall. Choose a fresh green centerpiece for your holiday table, a bough for your mantel, or smaller arrangements for gift-giving to teachers, home-bound friends, and neighbors. Buy homemade Christmas cookies and cakes. Proceeds to be donated to local charities.

Sunday, December 3:  Adult Education – 9 am in the Fireplace Room. Come join an ongoing study group which meets Sundays at 9 am in the Fireplace Room. All are welcome.

Sunday, December 3:  Book Discussion Group – After the 10 am service in the Fireplace Room. We will finish “The Divine Dance” reading Part III, The Holy Spirit, p185-194. Beyond that we will read the practices in the Appendix the following Sunday. Brian and Brooke.

Sunday, December 3:  Youth Brunch – In the Parish Hall after the 10 am service – Please come to a delicious brunch, prepared and served by our fabulous youth! YUMMY!!

Wednesday, December 6:  Wednesdays at Six: During this fourth and final session we will be discussing Chapter Thirteen, “Underland Without the Queen”; Chapter Fourteen, “The Bottom of the Word”; Chapter Fifteen, “The Disappearance of Jill”; and, “The Healing of Harms.”

Thursday, December 7:  Ladies Luncheon – 12 Noon in the Parish Hall.  Please save the date and join us as we usher in this festive time of year.  With you as chorus and Dilys at the piano, we can sing our favorite carols once again. Bring a sandwich to share. Our committee for December is:  Ginny Lucil, chips; Sue Stevens, paper goods; Sandy Marshall, table decorations; Jane Affleck, lemon and half and half; and Klondike Bar Dessert.

Friday, December 8:  Labyrinth Walk – in the Parish Hall at 10 am. This monthly Friday morning walk led by Darlene T. Hagon, Veriditas-certified Labyrinth Facilitator will focus on the theme, Gifts.  She will guide us in exploring the ways in which gifts are an important part of human relationships. The Rev. Anne Koehler will open and close the walk with a prayers selected to augment the theme and Dr. Margaret Rapaport, Veriditas-certified Labyrinth Facilitator will pace our entrance into the Labyrinth. Labyrinth Walk and Celebration of the Eucharist, 5:30 pm. The Evening Labyrinth Walk with Eucharist will prompt us to ponder the true question of Advent:  What are we waiting for?

Saturday, December 9:  ADVENT RETREAT – 9:30 am to 2 pm, St. Christopher’s Church, 625 Main St., Chatham. Journey through Advent with the Trinity; lead by Gail Smith+. Please bring a brown bag lunch. Questions? Call 508-945-2832.

CHURCH SCHOOL :  Ready? Set! GO to the bulletin board in the Gathering Room and SIGN UP for your part in the:  CHRISTMAS PAGEANT, December 24;  Epiphany Trope, January 7; how many houses your family would like to make at GINGERBREAD HOUSE MAKING; how many pieces of pizza you wish to eat! DECEMBER 3: Advent Wreath Making during class time in the Gathering Room – bring greens if you can – church school will provide all supplies. Father Adam will bless wreaths! DECEMBER 3 Christmas Pageant costume assignment – Parish Hall entry way after 10 am service. DECEMBER 7 (Thursday):  5:30 pm to 7:30 pm, ADULTS assemble houses, volunteers needed! DECEMBER 9 – the one & only Christmas Pageant rehearsal (5 pm) – Gingerbread House Making (6:15 pm) and pizza. DECEMBER 10 – Sale of Gingerbread Houses, Parish Hall.

Thanks to our youth, THE GIVING TREE IS UP in the reception room. This year we are purchasing gifts for families of the Homeless Prevention Council and the Safe Harbor domestic violence shelter. Stop by and pick a dove from the tree and an instruction sheet on your way to the Parish Hall after the service today or at any time the office is open during the week.  Remember to return your dove with your gifts ASAP as we must have all the gifts for delivery by December 10. Thank you!

December in the CHS Gallery Reception Room:  Back by popular demand, an annual display of collected crèches. The appliquéd hangings by Gail Smith+ depicting the nativity story will be featured, complemented by crèches on loan from the parishioners of The Church of the Holy Spirit.  Please make time to look at all these special Christmas traditions. Contact Cynthia Murray at 508-896-5634 or if you have a crèche or other Advent or  Christmas decorative items you are willing to share. THANK YOU:  I want to sincerely thank the parish for the wonderful support you have given to make the 40th Annual Antique Show and Sale such a success! Thank you also to all who were patrons of the show, and in addition, to all who volunteered so willingly to give your time, skills, and efforts posting advertising, covering the “gate,” compiling the show booklet, and assisting in other ways to make this event possible.  The spirit that flows through each of you is such a blessing within our parish.  I am most grateful and thankful to each of you who have given so willingly to help with this annual endeavor!  Thank you,  Debbie Meguerdichian, Chair
