Sunday, February 18:  Adult Education – 9 am in the Fireplace Room. Come join an ongoing study group which meets Sundays at 9 am in the Fireplace Room. All are welcome.

Sunday, February 18: Book Discussion Group – After the 10 am service in the Fireplace Room. This Sunday we will finish the last 4 chapters of “Pastrix”. Next Sunday, February 25, we will begin reading “All Shall be Well,” the introduction and the first two readings by Thomas Merton and Joan Chittister. Brian and Brooke Skea

Sunday, February 18:  SHEPHERD GROUPS – The Brewster/Dennis Group will meet on February 18 at the home of Jack and Karen Gentile, 98 Moss Lane, Brewster, MA at 5 pm. Questions? Wednesday, February 21:  Wednesday Lenten Supper & Session – February 21, 28, March 7, 14, and 21. There is a sign-up sheet in the Reception Room for the Wednesday Lenten Supper & Session. Please sign-up to bring Soup or Bread. Thanks!  Beginning on Wednesday February 21, we will continue our Wednesday evening opportunity for prayer and discussion using John Bunyan’s “The Pilgrim’s Progress”.  We will gather at 5:30 pm in the Parish Hall, and share a soup-and-bread supper.  Our discussion and reflection session will begin at 5:45 pm and finish by 6:45 pm. We will read from one edition:  The Pilgrim’s Progress – John Bunyan, Edited with Introduction and Notes by Roger Pooley, Penguin Classics; ISBN-13: 9780141439716;  2008/2009. Our first session, Wednesday, February 21, pages 11 – 43.

Thursday, March 1:  Ladies Luncheon – Our March meeting is also on the first; March 1st.  Come join us.  Bring a sandwich to share and the rest is provided.  Our committee for March is: Chips, Ginny Lucil; Paper Goods, Pat Carroll; Lemon and Half & Half, Jane Affleck; Table Decorations, Lori Linton; Juice, Marg Farrell.  Dessert will be our favorite decadent standby. We need to look for a sale!

Saturday, March 10:  LENTEN QUIET DAY – LIVING IN THE WILDERNESS – A time for quiet reflection and self-discovery from 9:30 am to 2 pm, right here at Church of the Holy Spirit and led by the Rev. Gail Smith and the Rev. Anne Koehler.  Bring a brown bag lunch. Please let us know if you plan to attend.  There is a sign-up sheet in the Reception Room, or call or email the church office.

Altar Flowers:  In the Reception Room you will find a NEW SIGN UP SHEET where you can choose which Sunday(s) you would like to donate flowers for the altars of CHS. Please fill out an Altar Flowers request card. You may choose to do this to remember someone or perhaps to celebrate a special anniversary or birthday. For a donation of fifty dollars the Flower Guild will purchase and arrange flowers, and the name(s) of the loved ones being honored will be noted in the service bulletins of the weekend services of the chosen date.

CHS Artist:  This month Helen Richardson and Sharyn Laughton are sharing/filling the gallery with LOVE! Helen is director of the Prayer Shawl Ministry.  The work of Helen and many other knitters will be on display. Take a shawl off of the display board and give to a friend who is at home, a hospital, or a nursing home and who needs our love.  Please remember to sign out your chosen prayer shawl with the office. Sharyn Laughton will also be displaying and selling felt hearts and cards from her lovely Art Offerings…more love to share! Enjoy the show. Questions? FREE SHOP:  The shop is gladly and gratefully accepting winter clothing and paper shopping bags. We are open Monday: 12 Noon to 3 pm and Wednesday: 10 am to 1 pm. GALLEY WEST GIFT SHOP:  The shop is open to the public on Sundays from 11:15 am to 12 Noon and on Mondays from 10 am to 1 pm, except on Holidays. HEALTH MINISTRIES COMMITTEE:  February is Heart Health Month. Stop by the Health Ministries tables this month to pick up material that answer questions and includes information  on heart healthy living, warning signs, support groups and even a heart healthy recipe or two!  Handouts will be available during coffee hour following the 10 am service and on the Reception Desk. PASTORAL CARE:  Please help us to provide pastoral care by sending an email to: pastoralcare@chsorleans.org about anyone in the parish who has gone to a hospital or nursing home, or who has suffered any major loss or life changing circumstance. If YOU are taken to the hospital please inform the staff there, that you want your home parish to be informed.  Volunteers needed to visit people once a month. Please let me know, by this email or my personal one below. If you are already visiting someone; please let me know who they are and how they’re doing. Prayer Shawls:  Welcomed, needed at so many stressful times.  And such good projects during these wintery, often shut-in days. Knit or crocheted; all happily accepted, blessed, distributed where needed.  Thanks to all who help in this ministry. WORLD DAY OF PRAYER: Friday, March 2 at 1 pm at the CHURCH OF THE TRANSFIGURATION,  ROCK  HARBOR, ORLEANS. This is a prayer service for all to attend, but the focus is on women’s leadership. It will incorporate music, prayers, stories from the Woman of Suriname and a talk on the what is happening in Haiti. Questions? Call Jean Collins 508-345-7356.
