Announcements March 10 – 16

Easter Flower Envelopes are in the pews this weekend, March 10 and 11 and next weekend, March 17 and 18 so that you can offer flowers in memory of (or in thanksgiving for) loved ones. Please print clearly on the envelopes your name and those for whom the flowers are given.  Include your donation and place your envelope in the Offertory plate. Deadline: Monday, March 19.

Sunday, March 11:  Adult Education – 9 am in the Fireplace Room. Come join an ongoing study group which meets Sundays at 9 am in the Fireplace Room. All are welcome.

Sunday, March 11: Book Discussion Group  After the 10 am service in the Fireplace Room. We will continue reading “All Shall be Well, Readings for Lent and Easter”, reading chapters 10 to 15, pages 59 – 87. Brian and Brooke Skea

Wednesday, March 14:  Wednesday Lenten Supper & Session – There is a sign-up sheet in the Reception Room for the Wednesday Lenten Supper & Session. Please sign-up to bring Soup or Bread. Continuing on Wednesday, March 14, we will gather at 5:30 pm in the Parish Hall, and share a soup-and-bread supper. Our discussion and reflection session will begin at 5:45 pm and finish by 6:45 pm. We will read from one edition:  The Pilgrim’s Progress – John Bunyan, Edited with Introduction and Notes by Roger Pooley, Penguin Classics; ISBN-13: 9780141439716; 2008/2009. This fourth session will cover pages 101 – 137.

Sunday, March 25:  The Orleans Shepherd Group will gather at 5:30 pm at Anne & Steve Koehler’s: 14 Cheney Rd., Orleans.  Parking available in our driveway and the driveway across the street (17 Cheney).  RSVP to or 508-255-0453.

Wednesday, March 28:  Holy Wednesday – Walking the Way of the Cross and Supper at 5:30 pm. This is for all Church School families and their extended families and friends.  “Sign up” for this traditional event is necessary to determine amount of food to purchase.  The sign up poster is posted on the Church School bulletin board in the Gathering Room.

It’s time to FILL THE EGGS for the Easter Egg Hunt on Easter Sunday, April 1! Pick up your empty plastic eggs in the gallery/reception area after the service and return them filled with wrapped, nut-free goodies by Palm Sunday at the latest.  Thank you!

Thursday, March 29:  Maundy Thursday:  6:15 p.m., Parish Hall – Agape Supper,
7 p.m. Holy Eucharist with Mandatum, held in the Parish Hall (ritual of Washing of the Feet)

Friday, March 30:  Good Friday:  3 p.m. Labyrinth Walk and 7 p.m. Good Friday Liturgy

Saturday, March 31:  Holy Saturday:  7 p.m.- The Vigil and First Eucharist of Easter

Sunday, April 1:  Easter Sunday:  8 a.m. & 10 a.m. Holy Eucharist with Easter Egg Hunt after 10 a.m. service.

CHS Artist:  The CHS artist for the month of March is Pat McLeod. Pat has dabbled in various art forms most of her life. In recent years she has concentrated on painting with water colors and quilting. Please come and enjoy her show! The 2018 Gallery calendar is full – thank you!  The 2019 Gallery Calendar will be available for monthly sign ups this July. FREE SHOP:  The shop is gladly and gratefully accepting spring clothing and paper shopping bags. We are open Monday: 12 Noon to 3 pm and Wednesday: 10 am to 1 pm. GALLEY WEST GIFT SHOP:  The shop is open to the public on Sundays from 11:15 am to 12 Noon and on Mondays from 10 am to 1 pm, except on Holidays. Please stop by, browse, and shop for yourself, family, and friends.

HEALTH MINISTRIES COMMITTEE:  March is brain awareness month. Be sure to stop by the table at coffee hour or look for handouts at the reception desk and the main entrance of the church. Topics to be covered include general brain health, diseases of the brain, issues related to our aging brains and concussions. And don’t forget, Sunday, March 18 at 11:30 am, we welcome a speaker, Liz Harnois from the Brain Injury Association of MA. She will discuss “Keeping Your Brain Safe”.

PASTORAL CARE:  Please help us to provide pastoral care by sending an email to: about anyone in the parish who has gone to a hospital or nursing home, or who has suffered any major loss or life changing circumstance. If YOU are taken to the hospital please inform the staff there, that you want your home parish to be informed.  Volunteers needed to visit people once a month. Nauset Interfaith Association:  The Refugee Support Team of Nauset Interfaith Association is collecting gift cards during March to support refugee families and individuals in Worcester and on Cape Cod.  Specific cards requested: Star Market, Stop & Shop, Walmart and Visa. These can be given to Fr. Ken or left in the Justice & Peace mailbox in the office, (please identify giver).  Thank you!

The Refugee Support Team is sponsoring a 2nd annual “Weekend on Cape Cod” for refugee families and individuals living in Massachusetts on July 13-15 and August 10-12.  If you might be interested in being a host please contact Fr.
