Announcements September 22 – 28


The Vestry has formed the Nominating Committee, and given it its charge in preparation for the Church of the Holy Spirit’s next Annual Meeting, to be held February 2019.

Appointed to the Committee were: Chip Bechtold, Judy Gardiner, Gilbert Merritt, Anne Moronta, and outgoing Warden Rick Paris. At the Annual Meeting, the parish will elect one Warden for a two-year term, a Treasurer and a Clerk, each for a one-year term, and five Vestry-at-large members, four for two-year terms, and one for a one-year term.

The Convention Delegates/Deanery Assembly Representatives and Alternate, and two delegates to the Cape Cod Council of Churches were elected last year for two-year terms and will serve their second year in 2019.

Anyone interested in making suggestions for the open 2019 positions is encouraged to contact a Nominating Committee member.

CHS ARTIST:  The featured CHS artist for the month of September is Gail Binney-Sterne. Included in her show marking the 85th Pentecostal birthday of this very special spiritual “HOME” is Gail’s gift to the Church of the Holy Spirit, a quilt entitled GATHERED IN HIS NAME. Please come and see her creative talents on display! If you are an artist who would like to display your art at CHS, please sign up for a month in 2019. A sign up sheet is posted in the Gallery. IF YOU UNLOCK IT – YOU MUST LOCK IT!  It has come to our attention that very often doors around the campus have been left unlocked during times when we are closed. LOCK ALL DOORS WHEN YOU LEAVE ANY AREA THAT YOU ARE USING AFTER HOURS!

Sunday, September 23:  ADULT EDUCATION –  in the Fireplace Room, 9 am.  We have resumed our series, working our way through Paul’s First Letter to the Corinthians.  This is a lively, interactive Bible study, led by Adam+.  No homework required!  Just come, in spirit, mind, and heart.

Sunday, September 30:  YOUTH SUNDAY BRUNCH – This is our second Brunch in September on September 30. Please join us  after the 10 am service in the Parish Hall.

Thursday, October 4:  LADIES LUNCHEON – The committee for our October luncheon is as follows:  Ginny Lucil, Chips;  Betty Yearing, Paper goods;  Betsey Mason, Table Decorations;  Georgia Schneider, Juice;  Jane Affleck, lemon and 1/2 and 1/2. Joan Proctor and Pat Carroll will bring dessert. Circle the date on your calendar and join us. Bring a sandwich to share and those crunchy chips we all look forward to, will be waiting for you on the table!

Friday, October 12 & Saturday, October 13:  RUMMAGE SALE:  Friday from  4 pm to 7 pm and Saturday from 9 am to 12 Noon. Keep saving those much needed donations for this popular sale. FREE SHOP:  The shop is gratefully accepting FALL clothing. We are open Monday: 12 Noon to 3 pm and Wednesday: 10 am to 1 pm.  HEALTH MINISTRIES COMMITTEE:  We are back and September is Immunization Month! Are you up to date? Do you know what’s recommended, for all ages? Please stop by the table at coffee hour and look for handouts at the reception desk for more information.

HOLIDAY BAZAAR BAKE SALE:  Cris Harter and Cynthia Murray are organizing the bake sale part of the CHS Holiday Bazaar on November 3.  There will be three “work parties” where we will create and package items that will be sold at the bazaar, and we could use your help!  Meet us in the CHS kitchen on any of these dates: Wednesday, October 3, 9 am – 12 Noon; Wednesday, October 17, 6 pm – 9 pm, Wednesday, October 31st, 1 pm – 4 pm.  There is a sign up sheet in the Gallery/Reception Room where you can add your name. Needed: large sized mason jars!  If you have any to donate, please bring them in.

HOSPITALITY UPDATE:  After several years of faithful service as the head of the Hospitality Committee, Cynthia Wieboldt is stepping down. Beginning the first of September, Fay Cole and Ruth Campbell are heading it up for at least one year. The three team approach has now become a two team approach, with Cynthia Murray continuing to work with Fay as head of one team, and Elizabeth Merritt working with Ruth Campbell to head up the other.  When receptions and all-parish occasions arise, these teams will take turns gathering help and food donations from you, our parishioners.  Thank you in advance for your kind response when we call or email. These are the gatherings that enhance our relationships within our CHS family.
