Advent is a time during which we look for the Coming of Christ as a small child in Bethlehem; we look for Christ to come again, and we look for Christ who lives in our hearts. Give yourself time to reflect and walk with us as we journey through Advent to Christmas and beyond.

We will use various ways to pray: Journaling, Poetry, Guided Meditation, and Contemplative Prayer. We will end the day with a Eucharist. Please bring your own brown bag lunch. Beverages and morning snacks will be provided. Please contact the church office if you plan to attend. Questions? Contact Gail Smith at 508-360-0207.

THE GIVING TREE:  Many thanks to all who took a “dove” and have returned it with gifts to The Giving Tree. The cards and notes you see on the tree now are thank you notes from families who have received your gifts in the past. Read them and you will see that your gifts are much appreciated.  Thank you for making Christmas morning special for families in need.

CHS FEATURED ARTIST – A CHS Christmas Tradition display of Christmas Creches from around the world. The appliquéd hangings by Gail Smith+ depicting the nativity story will be featured, complemented by crèches on loan from the parishioners of The Church of the Holy Spirit. Please contact Cynthia Murray at 508-896-5634 or csamurray@mac.com if you have a crèche or other Advent or Christmas decorative items you are willing to share.

GALLEY WEST GIFT SHOP:  Have you checked out the Galley West shop recently? It’s a one of a kind shop with many wonderful items for sale. The shop is open to the public on Sundays from 11:15 am to 12 Noon and on Mondays from 10 am to 1 pm, except on Holidays. Please stop by, browse, and shop for yourself, family, and friends. Thank you, Susan Owens

HEALTH MINISTRIES COMMITTEE:  The Health topic for December is Colon Cancer. Did you know that Colon Cancer is the 3rd most common cancer diagnosed in both men and women in the U.S.? Do you know how to get tested? Do you know the risk factors and what you may be able to do to lower your risk? Find the answers at the health table after services on Sundays or on the desk in the Reception area. Ann Pike-Paris, Chair

PRAYER SHAWL MINISTRY – KNITTERS NEEDED – Our pastoral visitors take the shawls to homes, nursing homes and hospitals after they have been blessed at one of our Eucharistic services. We also knit baby blankets for newborns. There is no right or wrong way to create these shawls of love and care but we do request that they be approximately 24” by 60” in size (though baby blankets are much smaller!) If you can help, please call Sandy Marshall at 508-255-9971 or svm2@comcast.net.

IF YOU UNLOCK IT – YOU MUST LOCK IT!  It has come to our attention that very often doors around the campus have been left unlocked during times when we are closed. LOCK ALL DOORS WHEN YOU LEAVE ANY AREA THAT YOU ARE USING AFTER HOURS!

CONSTANT CONTACT:  Here at the Church of the Holy Spirit we occasionally send out a Constant Contact email blast. What is a Constant Contact email blast? Simply put, it is an email that goes out to hundreds of parishioners at the exact same time. To keep everyone informed, we need to always have your current email address on file. So, if you change your email address, please let the office know! Our contact info: office@chsorleans.org or  508-255-0433.
