Friday, March 1:  World Day of Prayer takes place internationally on the first Friday of March every year. This year the Community of Jesus at Rock Harbor will be the host church with a service at 1 pm. The host country is Slovenia. The focus is on Jesus’ parable of the Great Dinner (Luke 14:15–24) with the theme “Come – Everything is Ready”. The women of Slovenia challenge us all to widen our circles, to expand our communities.

Thursday, March 7:  Ladies Luncheon we meet at 12 Noon in the Parish Hall. Bring a sandwich to share. Being the day after Ash Wednesday, the mood may be more somber, but the outreach, conversation, and caring will be there. Our committee is: Chips: Ginny Lucil; Table decorations: Fay Cole; Paper goods: Georgia Schneider; 1/2 &1/2 and lemon; Jane Affleck: Juice; Marge Farrell; and Dessert: Diana Crighton. See you on the 7th. Consider bringing something for babies in support of the ABC (A Baby Center).

ALTAR FLOWERS:  Please consider a donation for altar flowers! Just fill out an Altar Flowers request card, available at all the church entrances. You may choose to do this to remember someone or perhaps to celebrate a special anniversary or birthday.  For a donation of fifty dollars the Flower Guild will purchase and arrange flowers and the name(s) of the loved ones being honored will be noted in the service bulletins of the weekend services of the chosen date.

CONSTANT CONTACT:  Here at the Church of the Holy Spirit, we occasionally send out a Constant Contact email blast. What is a Constant Contact email blast? Simply put, it is an email that goes out to hundreds of parishioners at the exact same time. To keep everyone informed, we need to always have your current email address on file. So, if you change your email address, please let the office know! Our contact info: office@chsorleans.org or  508-255-0433.

CHS FEATURED ARTIST:  Our parish Prayer Shawl Ministry is the featured display in the reception room during the month of February where you will see the lovely shawls we have knitted for parishioners in need of warmth and loving comfort.  If you wish to take a shawl to a  parishioner, they are available in the church office. Debbi Manning will show you the array of choices and ask you to sign out a shawl. We have also knitted baby blankets for new infants. All the shawls and blankets have been blessed by Adam+. While you are in the Gallery – sign up to exhibit/sell your art/craft/gift for one month in 2019. Set up the first day of the month, take down the last day the month. Art is a tradition at CHS!

BABY CENTER BASKET:  The Baby Center in Hyannis really needs baby supplies such as wipes and diapers and can also use children’s coats and snow suits. The attendees at the monthly women’s luncheon have agreed to bring their donations to their luncheons but we need your help as well. Please put your donation in the basket in the Reception Room and we will deliver them to the Center. Even one package of diapers is appreciated! Many thanks!

COFFEE HOUR HOSTS:  Please signup on the posted sheet in the Parish Hall. The beverages are provided, you just need to bring something of your choice to go with them! Thank you to those of you who have helped out with Coffee Hour, to keep this fellowship going.

FREE SHOP: Your Winter clothing donations are most welcomed. We are open Monday: 12 Noon to 3 pm and Wednesday: 10 am to 1 pm. Donations can be dropped off during shop hours or placed in the box outside the shop door any time the parish hall is open. Questions? Contact Sharyn Laughton – artoff@comcast.net – 508 255 7277.

The shop is open to the public on Sundays from 11:15 am to 12 Noon and on Mondays from 10 am to 1 pm, except on Holidays. Please stop by, browse, and shop for yourself, family, and friends. HEALTH MINISTRIES COMMITTEE:  February Health Tip – FALL PREVENTION! It’s that time of year to be extra careful, inside and outside! A fall can happen in an instant, and can really impact a person’s independence and quality of life. Fall prevention means reducing your risk.
INSIDE: Keep pathways clear; Be aware of uneven surfaces. Remove throw rugs or secure them with a rug gripper; Keep frequently used items close by and within reach; Light your way.
OUTSIDE: Watch out for sidewalk cracks, holes, changes in sidewalk levels; Be aware of slippery surfaces from rain, snow and ice; Wear supportive shoes with good traction; Take your time.
Find useful information at the health table after services on Sundays or on the desk in the Reception area. Ann Pike-Paris, Chair
