Sunday, August 18: ADULT EDUCATION – in the Fireplace Room, 9 am. We continue with Genesis. For this week, we’ll be reading and reflecting on The Mysterious Visit, and the Intercession of Abraham. This is a lively, interactive Bible study, led by Adam+. No homework required! Just come, in spirit, mind, and heart.
Sunday, September 8: HOW HE PREPARES TO PREACH. For the past ten years, we have had the gift of hearing Adam+’s sermons, week after week, on the lectionary readings. These are given to us in his own distinctive style, which some have called Rabbinical. (He takes that as a high compliment.) We know that he preaches without scripts or notes. Have you ever
wondered how he gets ready? On Sunday, September 8, after the 10 o’clock service, we’ve invited him to reflect with us, discussing how his sermons come into being. Doug Fromm and I will be his “interviewers.” Come to the Fireplace Room after enjoying a few minutes of coffee hour, for a lively and revelatory time. Who knows? In addition to celebrating this
dimension of Adam+’s ministry among us, it may also inspire us to new ways of engaging scripture, ourselves, as we prepare for worship. Tom Dewing
Sunday, August 18: “Sundae Sunday” – Weather permitting we will gather in the memorial garden, after the 10 am service, to enjoy ice cream and homemade chocolate sauce, whipped cream and sprinkles! Too wet or too hot, we will see you in the Parish Hall…Yum!!
Sunday, August 25: After the 10 am service, during the Coffee Hour, please join Cheryl Kyle and the Keeffe-Jones family for a presentation about their October 2018 visit to Tanzania. READING FOR SPIRITUAL GROWTH ON TUESDAY MORNINGS: COME JOIN US! Our reading group meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month in the Parish Library from 10 am to 12 noon to discuss books we have chosen that relate to our spiritual journeys. Tuesday, September 3 we will begin to discuss Holy Envy by Barbara Brown Taylor, an Episcopal priest who, while teaching a college course on the New Testament, is surprised by her discovery of God in the many non-Christian religions in the world. Our time together includes worship and “checking in” on what’s going on in our lives while nurturing our spiritual gardens, weeds included! If you would like to join us call Sandy Marshall, 508-255-9971 or email@example.com.
