Announcements October 19 – 25

PLEASE NOTE:  Remember to turn your clocks back on Saturday evening, November 2 as we “Fall back”!  Our Saturday service will move to our winter hour: 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 2 through and including Saturday, February 29, 2020.

Sunday, October 20:  OUTREACH SUNDAY – In the Parish Hall after the 10 am service. The CHS Outreach Ministry team is holding its biennial charitable agency fair of displays and representatives from many of the local groups that we support and work with. There will also be a brief presentation at the 10:00 service about our wonderful Outreach program. Please join us and learn about how our parish outreach is making a difference in many lives.

Sunday, October 20: BOOK DISCUSSION GROUP – In the Fireplace Room after the 10 am service. There will be no book discussion group meeting after the 10 am service over the next two Sundays. Sunday, October 20 is an Outreach presentation and Sunday, October 27 is Adam+ and Lori’s farewell gathering. We will read Chapter 3 of Bauckham’s Bible and Mission on Sunday November 3. We hope you will ALL join us at 10 am on October 27th for our final service with Adam+. So that we can all worship together for this special day, THERE WILL BE NO 5 pm SERVICE on SATURDAY 10/26 AND NO 8:00 a.m. SERVICE ON SUNDAY 10/27. Following the service everyone is invited to the Parish Hall for a celebration of Adam+ and Lori’s ten years with us. New Coffee Hour Volunteer sign up list for September through December now available in the Parish Hall. Please take a turn!

CHS SCHOLARSHIP AWARD:  The Church of the Holy Spirit awards a $1000 scholarship to a deserving senior who attends and contributes to the church. This can be for a collegiate or other school of higher learning.  This year we have a bumper crop of 5 seniors.  The scholarship committee is asking for donations to the fund as all of the seniors are worthy of the award. Please help by sending a check to the church made out to the CHS scholarship fund. Thank you.

CHS RECYLCLING TEAM VOLUNTEERS NEEDED. Most of us recycle our home trash; CHS does too. Could you volunteer to help do the CHS recycling every week for one month? Pick up the paper and other recycling at CHS after you attend a weekend service or come Monday – Friday when the buildings are open. There isn’t much each week….but as Adam+ said in his recent sermon, every little bit of recycling helps our planet. Contact Jack Sasso if you are willing to help at 508-255-1732 or

Antique Show and Sale:  First Time VOLUNTEERS Wanted! Seeking those who can give 1 to 2 hours, on 1 of 2 days! It’s that simple! WHAT: Sit at a table, welcome patrons at the door OR help them buy lunch at the 42nd annual Antique Show, When: Friday November 29 OR Saturday November 30. Yes, that’s right, THANKSGIVING WEEKEND! Times: Shifts on both days, from 11:30-3:00 pm. Provided: All instructions along with comfortable chairs, good company, and best of all… give of yourself, spend a lovely hour or two enjoying a wonderful event. FREE SHOP: Your Fall/Winter clothing donations are most welcomed. We are open Monday: 12 Noon to 3 pm and Wednesday: 10 am to 1 pm. Donations can be dropped off during shop hours or placed in the box outside the shop door any time the parish hall is open. Needed –  paper shopping bags with handles, the Free Shop has gone green! HOLIDAY BAZAAR:  SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 2 – SAVE THE DATE! Please donate:  Gently Used Jewelry; Attic Treasures; Used Books; Food Table donations (Cris Harter and Cynthia Murray); and Cookie Walk. Volunteer sign up posters are up in the Reception Room and the Parish Hall, please sign up and support this wonderful CHS event. Our October Ladies Luncheon was bittersweet. We had a good turnout and lots of conversation, but it was Lori Linton’s last meeting with us. We send her our very best wishes for happiness and fulfillment in the next chapter of her life. Calendars ready? Our next meeting is November 7 and our committee is:  Pat Carroll, Chips; Betty Yearing, Juice; Jane Affleck, Half and Half; Gail Binney Sterne, Paper Goods; Fay Cole, Centerpieces; Dilys Smith, Dessert.  Bring a sandwich to share and join us at 12 Noon in the Parish Hall.

SAVE THE DATES – 42nd ANNUAL HOLIDAY ANTIQUES SHOW AND SALE: Plans are again underway for the 42nd Annual Antiques Show and Sale to be held on Friday, November 29, 10 am – 4 pm and on Saturday, November 30,  10 am – 3 pm in the Parish Hall.


WEBSITE SERMONS:  Adam’s sermons (both texts and audios), are no longer available on our parish website. However, the audios have been preserved on a thumbdrive, and the written texts printed out in a collection. Both of these will be available in the parish Library after his departure.
