HOLY WEEK AND EASTER Schedule:
Palm Sunday: Saturday, April 4 : 5 pm; Sunday, April 5: 8 am & 10 am.
Maundy Thursday: April 9: 5 pm; “On the Road to Gethsemane”, Agape meal, Foot Washing, and Time in the Garden.
Overnight Prayer Vigil: Watch with Jesus for an hour from April 9: 9 pm until April 10: 9 am.
Good Friday: April 10: 3 pm Stations of the Cross – Labyrinth Walk; 5 pm Good Friday Liturgy
Holy Saturday: April 11: 7 pm Easter Vigil.
Easter Sunday: April 12: 8 am Spoken Liturgy; 10 am Choral Liturgy followed by an Easter Egg Hunt and Brunch.
PLEASE NOTE: On March 7, our Saturday service will move to 5 pm through and including October 31. Daylight Savings: 2 am on Sunday, March 8, remember to “Spring forward”.
YOUTH SUNDAY AND BRUNCH: Sunday, March 1 after the 10 am service, join us in the Parish Hall for brunch prepared and served by our youth. This month: Scrambled Eggs, Sausage, Fruit, Fresh Baked Biscuits, Coffee, Tea; $8 per person, children under 18 eat free.
Wednesday Soup Suppers this Lent: On the five Wednesdays during Lent, March 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th, April 1st, we will meet at 5 pm in the Parish Hall to share in a simple meal of soup and bread. We will watch the Oscar nominated film ‘Chocolat’ and examine the story and characters to explore what it means to be truly and completely human as God intended. Ladies Luncheon: March 5, 12 Noon in the Parish Hall. Our committee is: Sue Stevens, potato chips and paper goods; Nancy Ludewig, juice; and Dilys Smith, applesauce for those people who desire a Lenten alternative. Hope you will join us. If school is closed on a Ladies Luncheon date (due to weather), the luncheon will automatically be cancelled.
Instructed Eucharist: Saturday, March 7 at the 5 pm service and Sunday, March 8 at the 10 am service. Come join us and our children for our Instructed Holy Eucharist and learn something new or something you have forgotten!
CHURCH SCHOOL NEWS: The Church School is again sponsoring the Easter Egg Hunt after the 10 am Easter Service. Please help by picking up empty plastic eggs in the Reception Room starting March 1 and return them filled with candy or trinkets. NO PEANUT PRODUCTS IN THE CANDY PLEASE! There are sign up sheets in the Gathering Room of the Church School for children to be Acolytes on the 4th Sunday of each month and for Readers on the 1st Sunday of each month. Please encourage your children to participate.
Lenten Array Booklets: The Lenten Array is now up on the altars for the season of Lent. For those of you who would like to know more about the Lenten Array in church history or the symbolism used in the design for the hangings and vestments, there are booklets available at all entrances to the church and on the small altar table.
MAUNDY THURSDAY: The sign up sheet for our Maundy Thursday Vigil is available in the reception room. Please come and sign up for this meaningful devotion.
Holy Conversations: Sundays in Lent & Easter – March 15, 29, April 19, 26 from 11:30 am to 2 pm in the Parish Hall. During our Holy Conversations we will share stories from the Church of the Holy Spirit’s history. After collecting our stories during our first Holy Conversation, we will decide which ones we want to talk about more. We do this work as part of our preparation for the next rector. Addressing those issues that haunt us, healing wherever it is possible, and working towards reconciliation together will help give us a fresh start and be in the best space possible for our new rector. We encourage everyone to participate in these important discussions.
